Since my copy of The Peacock Spring cuts out at the end, I will supply what I cannot show: Ravi tells Una that his poetry is paramount and he must go home to eat humble pie for his father. He was made to realized that what they had done was foolish and bad. Una asks him how he could consider their child bad and he tells Una to go to Alix for help because "Women have ways to take care of this", to which Una demands he get out of her sight, she never wants to see him again.
Alix reads the letter Una's little sister wrote Una and discovers that Una is pregnant and show it to Una's father, who says he will have her sent to a nursing home to get an abortion because she cannot have a "bastard half-caste."
Alix assures Una that she will find some way to stop her father, commenting that this is the first time she has ever acted outside her own self interest.
Hem sneaks into Una's room to bring her back the suitcase she left at his place when Ravi and her changed clothes and dyed her hair. Una asks Hem why he confessed to throwing acetone in that man's eyes when it was Ravi that actually did it, and she realises by the look in Hem's eyes that he is in love with Ravi. Hem acknowledges this by saying, "I guess this is what is meant by we are in the same boat" and Una adds, "Or we are both in hot water."
That night Una wakes up in pain, her nightgown bloody and she has a miscarrage, saying to herself, "So no one gets their way."
The show ends with scenes of Una back at school in England, and Ravi winning his poetry prize, looking very proud and self satisfied, then back to Una walking introspectively through a grove of trees.

"My Own Country" is a great film, and some of Naveen's best work. It's not to be missed.
And we can all guess how wonderful our hero may be between the sheets!
