Interview with Andrea Gabriel

Here's a snippet from the interview, where she talks about working on Lost with Naveen:

Gabriel has worked on the show with Naveen Andrews, who plays Sayid, more than anyone else. “It’s not hard to have good chemistry with Naveen. I think you could ask any actress.” Their onscreen relationship is easier to maintain because the real timeline is similar. “Since it’s been a period of about six years, whenever I show up it almost feels like we have history, because it’s definitely taken a place in our imagination. I’m speaking for him now, but collectively, since I’m a part of his character’s journey, I feel like it’s just when you’re a creative person, you’re an actor and an artist, it takes on a life of its own. So when you come back, it just does for itself; you don’t really have to work at it that hard, especially because we’re not shooting a movie that’s supposed to take place over six years – it’s been six years…It’s very natural just to fall back into that, and every time you come back the stakes are a little higher, because the relationship’s a little deeper.”

Gabriel’s favorite scenes are ones she has filmed with Andrews, from both the first season and from her newest appearance in the episode Sundown. “I love the interrogation scene from season one – that was really cool, because it was also explaining a lot about Sayid, who was going to be such an amazing character on show, so sort of helping to unfold his story was really exciting to be a part of. And then, I really liked the kitchen scene [in Sundown]…with me and Sayid. I really like that scene too because it was kind of a different Nadia, and it was a different reality. But it was a different Nadia and it was really kind of going to that place - if you’re married to someone else, you have two kids, you know, the kids are asleep, the husband’s in the hospital, and it’s like, ‘Why didn’t you want to be with me?’ I mean, that’s deep…That was really fun to be able to have that kind of relationship with Naveen, I mean, with Sayid, which was different, but at the same time really, really, raw.”
